The Konica Minolta Bizhub copier is one of the most reliable copiers there is for your office, but even the best office equipment needs a little maintenance from time to time. One of the most common errors people receive with their Konica Minolta is when the paper jams.
Paper jams happen for a number of reasons. Sometimes the paper isn’t fed into the machine straight, causing it to come off track and get stuck. Too thick paper, and two pieces of paper being fed into the machine at once are also common issues with copiers.
Regardless, if you find that your copier has a paper jam, here are 5 easy ways to fix it on the Konica Minolta Bizhub!
One of the best things about this particular machine is that it tells you where the paper jam happened within the system. The first thing you should do is look at the display on the copier, which will tell you where the jam is. On this model, there are 3 specific areas where people can easily become stuck: the drawers that hold the paper, the copier feeder, or the side compartment.
It’s the side compartment where most jams happens because that’s where the actual copying takes place. This video can help you get to know your machine’s display system and how to find the paper jam.
Once you’ve determined where the jam on your Konica Minolta Bizhub copier has occurred, you can press the “start guidance” button on the machine. This button will make the display tell you what area of the copier you need to open in order to address the jam.
Now that you’ve located the jam, it’s time to open the Bizhub and remove it. To open the compartment, simply press the gray button which is located on the right side of the machine. If you find the jam, gently pull it out.
To remove a jam from the document feeder, lift up the feeder and remove the paper that has become stuck. And lastly, if the jam happened in the paper drawers, open them up and gently pull back out any stuck paper. You’ll want to be gentle when pulling the jammed paper out so that you don’t rip it off and and make the paper harder to remove.
Sometimes, the paper jam happens deeper within the Konica Minolta Bizhub. If this is the case, look for the green buttons within the machine. These green buttons will open other compartments where the paper may be stuck.
Now that you’ve removed the paper jam, all you need to do is close everything back up. The copier will not work if you leave any drawers or compartments open so it’s important to ensure that everything is closed.
Once closed, your Konica Minolta Bizhub should immediately begin working again and finish the copying job that it started. If for some reason it doesn’t, it’s a good indicator that the jam was not fully removed and you should repeat the steps listed above.
While dealing with a paper jam in your Konica Minolta usually isn’t too difficult, knowing how to prevent a jam will help keep your copier running smoothly and without interruption. Check out this video on how to prevent paper jams (and how to fix them when they do happen).
