January 9 marks one year to go until the tournament kicks off in January 2015. To celebrate one year until Asia’s biggest sporting event kicks off in our backyard, football will take over Federation Square today in Melbourne. Socceroos Captain Lucas Neill and Coach Ange Postecoglou join the crowd in the celebrations, giving fans an opportunity to test their skills in a kicking competition. Over forty children representing their country of origin or the country they will support during the Asian Cup will join Ange and Lucas for the first ‘official’ Asian Cup 2015 team photo.
The Asian Cup will take place from January 9-31, 2015, in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Newcastle and will be promoted internationally to a TV reach of more than 2.5 billion. Top players from 16 of the best teams across Asia will be capturing the hearts of football fan around the world.
The draw for the tournament will take place at the Sydney Opera House on March 26 and will be televised throughout Asia.“We’re proud to support such a significant sporting event for Australia”, says Dr David Cooke, Managing Director of Konica Minolta. 19th May AFC Challenge Cup. Will determine the 16th qualifying team.
12th June 2014 FIFA World Cup. Brazil.
9th January AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Kicks Off. Opening match in Melbourne.
