On Thursday 21st November 2019, the Fundraising Institute of Australia awarded our Director, Colin Wheeler, the ‘Above and Beyond’ award, 1 of only 3 awards presented that night for the Gold Coast.
Put forward by the Queensland state office of St Vincent de Paul Society, the well-deserved award was given in recognition of Colin’s 6-year involvement with the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, and he doesn’t plan to stop supporting the event anytime soon.
Colin individually raised $47,000 at the 2019 charity event, but more importantly, used his networks in our city to encourage other business leaders to participate and raise collectively over $1,800,000. An incredible accomplishment toward homelessness prevention on the Gold Coast.
All of the money raised for the sleepout is spent on important projects right here on the coast to provide emergency accommodation for the city’s homeless population – 60% of which are domestic violence victims, children, and those suffering from mental health issues.
