Document Solutions Australia (DSA) was formed in July 2001 when Colin Wheeler and Alan Thompson acquired the Konica Minolta Gold Coast branch. What started as a photocopier supplier has since evolved into a full-service business solution and technology provider.

Since its beginnings, the DSA team have built strong business foundations and corporate relationships that reach into business communities throughout the local Gold Coast region. Our attention to detail, focus on service delivery, and the desire to be well respected across the local business landscape have driven a company culture of excellence from the top down.

DSA is a company large enough to cope, but small enough to care.

Alan is joint owner of Document Solutions Australia and is the Sales Director of the company. His experience with the Konica Minolta product spans over 22 years. Starting as a technician, graduating to sales and sales management, Alan had a rounded education in the industry before purchasing the Gold Coast office with Colin from Konica Australia in 2001.

After 26 years of corporate life, Colin finds combining big business structures in an SME a great combination to provide a structured company that can serve its clients effectively. Craig started with Konica Gold Coast in 1991 as a green trainee and has worked his way up to his current position responsible for the efficient and effective running of the service business within the company. Craig is well respected by his team and has been ‘the man in charge’ since 2000. Craig is also the best cyclist in the company!

Jen joined our team in January 2018 as the administrative heart of Document Solutions.  Having grown up in southern Sydney, a Balmain Tigers (Wests Tigers) fan since birth, she has resided on the Gold Coast since 2001.  Jen loves music from most genres and craft projects.  Family is an integral part of who she is, as is the importance of having fun.

Matt joined the Document Solutions team in March 2020 and is nearing 15 years of experience in the sales industry. He deals in the sale of both hardware and software solutions in the northern region of the Gold Coast. Outside of the office Matt loves sport – especially golf, horse racing and, of course, all footy codes!

Matt joined our sales division in November 2019 and looks after the southern end of the Gold Coast. He originally studied Graphic Design/Visual Arts yet started in sales approximately 23 years ago. The majority of his career has been in audio visual, digital print and software solutions. Matt has also played guitar in working pub bands for many years in Adelaide, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast. He has a partner and two children and loves surfing and cooking.

Brendon joined our sales division in August 2016 as the IT & 3D Printer Specialist Sales Representative. He is married with five children and enjoys helping people improve their lives through the use of new technology. Brendon’s experience in corporate, commercial, and consumer markets provides a vast background of understanding and application of technology solutions.

Barry joined our sales division in October 2017 as our Government/Education Sales Representative, having been in the print industry since early 2008. He grew up on the Gold Coast, left in 1989, and recently returned after 28 years away in Brisbane, Sydney and North Queensland. Barry has a daughter, and he is now living 300 metres from the beach with a fabulous girl.

Rachel joined the Document Solutions team in June 2020. She has a double degree in Business and Digital Media and loves combining the two areas in her role. She is a natural creative with attention to detail and looks after anything and everything marketing and design, whilst also supporting the Sales Team. Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Rach loves supporting the local music scene and practicing concert and portrait photography.

Adam began his career with Konica Minolta Gold Coast in September 2006 as the Service Controller. He has now been promoted to Logistics Coordinator and is responsible for the delivery of machines to our customers. Adam coordinates and maintains the transportation schedule as well as the storage and distribution of all stock. Your machine will be delivered along with his smiling face. He is sometimes confused with Vin Diesel and thinks that he is the best cyclist in the company.

Adam joined our technician team in 2010 and is another Welshman in the company, only he really does sound Welsh. Adam joined Konica Minolta in Wales in 1999 straight from school and is now here on the Gold Coast with a wealth of knowledge with the Konica Minolta products.

Justin is another brother in the Konica Minolta Service Technician Team. Justin specialises in the “big boys”. His career in the copier industry spans over 20 years with his beginnings in Tasmania in the late 1980’s. He learnt his trade as a business machine mechanic and completed an associate diploma in electrical engineering; Justin then moved to the Gold Coast and started with Document Solutions in 2004. ‘Big J’ specialises in the high end colour production machines and has extensive IT experience.

Andrew Mitchell

Andrew started his career in 1990 whilst completing an electronic engineering apprenticeship. From there Andrew moved on and worked on a large range of products in the copier industry. He was working as a sub-contractor for a number of years before making the very wise move over to Document Solutions in 2003. Andrew is fully trained on the majority of the Konica Minolta range and is furthering his skills by focusing on becoming a high-end production machine specialist.

Robbie looks after the southern end of the coast and is a ‘white tornado’ intent on fixing your equipment as efficiently as possible. For a Welshman, he sounds very much like an Aussie and we don’t know of another Welshman that can surf! Rob has been in the industry since 1974 and has been servicing the Konica product for 20 years – it’s safe to say, this guy really knows his stuff.

James brings a wealth of knowledge to our technician team, nearing 10 years of experience in all Konica Minolta machines. He started his career as an offset printer then moved to Toowoomba to work for Konica Minolta before the lure to return to the Gold Coast brought him to Document Solutions. James’ quiet and hardworking ethics always get the job done and done well. He is married with four children and loves motor sports, 4-wheel driving, fishing and is a keen carpenter – building solid timber furniture from recycled timber.

Ian joined the DocSol team in June 2018 as our in-house Service Technician. His career in the copier industry expands over 37 years. Ian is married with three daughters and two sons. He is a lifelong basketball fan, played and coached lots and is proud to say his son played for the Townsville Crocodiles!

Our newest addition to the Service Team, Trina started in the print industry 11 years ago as a Digital Printer. In the past three years, she has been operating Konica Minolta machines and is currently transitioning into a service technician role. Trina has two amazing daughters and, in her downtime, enjoys keeping fit and spending time with family and friends.

Karen joined the Document Solutions team back in 2010 as the Receptionist/Meter Reading Coordinator. She has now joined the Service Team where she is the Service Administrator, giving support to the Operations Manager and the Logistics Coordinator. She is also responsible for ensuring that the administration and procedural requirements for the Service team are met. She is married to a personal trainer and has two gorgeous daughters. When not running a household, Karen loves to read and relax.

Nikki joined the DocSol team in July 2018. Working alongside Karen as the Service Administration Assistant, Nikki obtains your monthly meter readings, assists with service bookings and processes consumables orders. She is originally from Derby in the UK. After leaving school she completed the equivalent of a Certificate 4 in Beauty Therapy as well as a Certificate 3 in Customer Services. She came over to Australia on a working holiday visa and now 10 years on she is a permanent resident with two awesome boys and two gorgeous cats.

Damo joined the DocSol team in January 2019 as our Storeman. He is responsible for managing all functions of stock and equipment in our Service warehouse. Originally from Melbourne, he moved to the Gold Coast for a lifestyle change and enjoys fishing, mountain biking, movies, BBQ’s and the outdoors.

Andrew joined the DocSol team in 2005 as an after sales trainer. He quickly established himself as a front-line customer service support officer and machine installer and is now often described by our clients as ‘personable and professional’. He is a vibrant part of the team and is responsible for all customer training. He also assists our technicians and account managers in the functions and knowledge of the equipment. ‘Siggsy’ can do no wrong – we love his work, and you will too!

Mark has been part of the Doc Sol team since 2010 and is our Senior I.T Tech. Mark provides incredible support both remotely and in person and has a wealth of knowledge to offer. He was also instrumental in implementing PaperCut (Print Management Software) into Queensland Education. Mark has gained his Diploma in IT-Networking and has worked professionally in the IT industry for over 10 years. For any technical questions, Mark is your man!

A long-time member of our team, Zach has over 10 years of IT experience and is an expert problem-solver. With a Diploma of Information Technology Networking behind him, Zach also has a fantastic knowledge he brings to his role. Zach further exercises his IT skills at home building computers from scratch. Outside the office, Zach loves the outdoors and is an avid landscape photographer. He is also a keen bike rider of the downhill mountain and BMX variety so some biking rivalry on road vs. mountain pursues.

Currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in IT (majoring in Networking and Security) at Griffith University, Jordan joined DocSol as an opportunity to get some real-world experience working within a closely-knit IT team as well as learn how to best interact with a variety of clients across the coast. He has lived on the Gold Coast all his life excelling through life’s trials and tribulations. He loves playing the guitar, going to the gym, and having a few bevvies with the boys.

The newest member of our IT team, Scott started his IT career 6 years ago in high school at a small Gold Coast computer shop and is now studying a bachelor’s degree in IT at Southern Cross Uni. He brings with him a passion for all things IT, benign and peculiar – mostly the latter, and is always looking for more juicy IT knowledge. In his off-time Scott enjoys a wide range of hobbies from music and gaming to shooting and all things with wheels, and family time with his partner and son.

After learning the basics of IT support at his high school, Joe has now transitioned into our IT Team to take his expertise to the next level. He is looking forward to mastering all things IT and being a great asset to our team. Joe is currently completing a double degree in Information Technology and Creative Industries, planning to major in music. In his spare time, he produces lo-fi, hip hop, and indie music, and enjoys playing games and hanging out with mates.
