Interactive Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between an Interactive Whiteboard and a Multi Touch Screen?
The main differences between an interactive whiteboard and multi touch screen are that the multi touch screens cannot be written on with a whiteboard marker. There are also less maintenance costs with a multi touch screen because they do not incorporate filters that need to be cleaned or lamps that need to be replaced compared to a data projector required for an interactive whiteboard.
Additionally, interactive whiteboards provide a more economical solution initially compared to the multi touch screen and also offer larger screen sizes.
What’s the difference between the HDI and TeamBoard Interactive Whiteboards?
The HDi interactive whiteboard uses infrared technology and provides true multi touch at the touch of a finger whereas the TeamBoard uses resistive touch functionality where there is an air gap providing tactile feedback to finger touch.
The HDi interactive whiteboard is also driverless, which means that it can be used on any computer whereas the TeamBoard requires software to operate.
Do I have to use special pens on the interactive whiteboard? Our Interactive Whiteboards can be used with your finger or a stylus. No special pens are required so there is nothing to lose or replace. No batteries are required for the stylus.
Where do I find the serial number of my interactive whiteboard?
The serial number on the TeamBoard is located in the bottom right hand corner underneath on the aluminium frame. There will be a red or white sticker and the number will start with the letters HU or HW followed by 6 numbers.
The serial number on the HDI Interactive whiteboard is located under the Pen Tray. There will be a white sticker with a 16 character alpha-numeric number.
How do I clean my interactive whiteboard?Use the supplied microfibre cloth, dampen with water if needed. For stubborn marks, spray Windex onto the microfibre cloth first then wipe the surface. Avoid using any harsh abrasives as these can damage the whiteboard surface.
What should we do if someone writes on the TeamBoard with a permanent marker?Although the TeamBoard is not designed for use with permanent markers, should someone write with one on the board, use a regular dry-erase marker, scribble back and forth over the permanent marker ink and erase. You will see it gradually disappear. Repeat if necessary. In exceptional circumstances use over-the-counter rubbing alcohol, diluted 70%.
How do I connect my interactive whiteboard to my computer and projector?
To connect your interactive board to your computer, there are two cables that are required, a VGA cable and a USB cable. The VGA cable supplies the video signal to the projector and the USB cable provides the interactivity connection between the interactive whiteboard and the computer.
Plug one end of the VGA cable into the wall point and the other into the computer. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the wall point and the other (flat) end of the USB into your computer.
Note: The instructions above assume that a wall plate is being used for the installation; some installations may use a HDMI cable instead of a VGA cable. How do I connect my multi touch screen to my computer?
To connect your multi touch screen to your computer, there are two cables that are required, a VGA cable and a USB cable. The VGA cable supplies the video signal to the screen and the USB cable provides the interactivity connection between the multi touch screen and the computer.
Plug one end of the VGA cable into the VGA socket on the rear panel of the screen and the other into the computer. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the socket labelled Touch USB on the rear panel of the screen and the other (flat) end of the USB into your computer.
