As part of the National Recycling Week (11 – 17 November, 2013), Konica Minolta Australia is proud to announce it has reached a major recycling milestone. Through its partnership with Cartridges 4 Planet Ark and its recycling partner Close the Loop, one million Konica Minolta printer cartridges have been recycled, diverting them from landfill, saving a total of over 600 tons of waste.
Dr David Cooke, Managing Director at Konica Minolta Australia explains: “As a global business, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and are extremely pleased that Konica Minolta has reached its 1 million cartridge milestone.”
“Meaningful partnerships with cartridge collection initiatives like Close the Loop, and Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, are of vital importance as we look for innovative ways to divert business waste.”
“Konica Minolta works hard to be a sustainable company by measuring, minimizing and managing our carbon emissions. Diverting landfill and reducing greenhouse emissions from used toner cartridges are just one of the ways our organisation is making a positive and meaningful contribution to the environment and our community.”
Today, corporate sustainability is seen as a benchmark for corporate excellence but the impact on business can be much broader. In fact, research shows companies who align with environmental initiatives can boost staff morale by up to 55%* and increase loyalty by up to 38%*.
Striving towards corporate excellence, Konica Minolta Australia’s environmental and sustainability policy supports its global eco vision to reduce CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050. Ninety two percent of all Konica Minolta machines are recycled at the end of their life cycle via e-Sims recycling and all toner bottles and other consumables are recycled via Close the Loop who in turn revert this e-waste into a range of innovative products like eWood park benches and raised garden beds.
Konica Minolta’s business machines are among the most environmentally efficient available. Combined with its comprehensive range of services, solutions and eco practices, Konica Minolta’s award winning range of devices are more energy efficient, use less toner, and produce less greenhouse gas emissions than ever before.
In addition to Konica Minolta’s partnership with Close the Loop and Planet Ark, it is also an official corporate supporter of Landcare Australia, and works tirelessly with the community, government and business to protect and repair Australia’s magnificent, yet stressed, natural resources.
Konica Minolta was also recently acknowledged by being named on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the fifth consecutive year.
